Over the last year or so, several companies have launched express keratin treatment products, designed to work faster than the regular keratin complex in order to lower the time the product has to stay on your hair. There are two major differences between the keratin and keratin express blowouts:
Product Time on Hair
With a traditional keratin complex treatment you have to leave the product on your hair for 72 hours. That is 3 days. If you have oily hair, or a demanding schedule, that would be a problem. During that time you can’t get your hair wet at all, so no full showers, no going to the gym and sweating. You also have to keep your hair straight throughout the 3 days, so you can’t pull it back, or stick it behind your ears, something that is hard for many of us.
With the express keratin complex straightening system you only have to leave the product on for 8 hours! That is a huge difference. If you have the express treatment you can have it done anytime during the day and be ready for a shower in the morning. If you plan on having a full keratin treatment, scheduling it for Thursday morning works for many people as you then have the weekend to protect your hair.
How Long the Treatment Lasts
The second difference when comparing keratin vs keratin express is how long your hair will maintain the full effects of the treatment. The full treatment will last 3-6 months, while the express will only last 3-6 weeks. Six months of course sounds wonderful, but you have to consider how your hair will look as it grows out and how much work it will be to straighten your roots if you plan on wearing it straight.
